Hello,
I have a 1997 jaguar xj6, and i was curious how to replace the rear shocks.. I took it to a repair man and he said that he would have to take apart the whole rear end but that does not seem correct. Is there an easier way to remove and replace the rear shocks??
Thank so much for your help and input.
I appreciate it.
Mike

Your repair guy isn't too far off. It's a big job. One of the fellows here posted a photo-documentary of the job. And archives search should uncover it, or perhaps he'll read your post and chime in.
Cheers

You have the X300 and you need to post in the correct forum for better answer results.
The dampers can be replaced in an hour or two if you remove the 4 bolts from under the diff and BEND THE TRIANGULAR PLATE DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lower control arms will now drop and the dampers and springs will FALL OUT. Jack the plate back in place and bolt it up.
You can lower the suspension or play around with the special tools but when you work on these cars for warranty times, you learn more efficient ways to get a job done.
