Default Road Trip with Refurbished Suspension

Yesterday, Friday, August 27, we took Nix on a road trip of 200 miles to have lunch with a couple other former Jag club members, at a place we always liked. It was almost like our Club days when the activity was a 100 mile drive to lunch at some unique little place, over picturific roads out to the Stix somewhere.

The first couple times we were there, the place was called the Steelhead Bar and Grill. Then it was the Virgin Sturgeon for a while, and now it's the Slough House Social. All the same building clinging to the side of the levy on Steamboat Slough off the Sacramento River a couple miles outside Colusa Ca.

They used to have just Bar Food suitable to entice customers to buy more drinks. Now they have a bunch of fancy schmancy stuff normal Colusa County tomato and rice farmers would have no idea what it is; strange looking food with faraway sounding names. But they were doing a brisk business.

As we all know where the place is, that's where they wanted to meet up.

The parking lot was full of Colusa County farners' work pickups, a RED S-type that was NOT well cared for with peeling clear coat, and one Very Elderly BLACK Jaguar Xj6, the best looking car in the lot (all of which I rather negligently forgot to get pictures of)!

We all found something we could eat. No one went hungry or thirsty.

The air was nothing short of Chunky, burned throat and eyes. We wore masks even in the car both to and from (Series 2 has no provision for Recirculation). Inside the restaurant it was OK as it's sort of an air-lock at entrances, and of course there's no smoking, but step outside and it was a different story. If we all had had any other free days to do this, none of us would have made the trip during Wildfire Season. Pictures above were obviously taken during clear weather.

Nix made that trip with nary a hiccup. AC worked, no overheating, tires went round and round smoothly and quietly. At this point I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car to New York (if I ever had a reason to drive it to New York, which I can't imagine) and leave my AAA towing card here on my desk.

Now That is tempting Providence.
