running engine/not running engine

'76 xj series 2 4.2lt after engine is started it will not tick over, then hard to start/will not start. has been lying for over 10yrs, carbs have been changed any suggestions

OH boy,

I would like a tad more info please.

Starts and dies???????

Starts, then fizzles out and wont restart?????

Carbies have been changed????, from what to what???

I will assume that the fuel system has been flushed with clean fuel ALL the way from the rear to the front.

I am also assuming you are in the UK?

I will drink coffee and wait.
