Default Series 1 clock

The clock in my series 1 isn't working. I took the thing out of the housing to examine it but only found a loose screw.

These clocks fail commonly, but why?

Also, the adjustment screws. The one on the left sets time, what does the one on the right do?

Thank you, will update you all on this as usual.

Default Two diffferent clocks were installed in S1

After having mine repaired, once or twice... I finally had it converted on the inside to a quartz movement.. It looks stock but now keeps perfect time. Just no moving second hand.

Red Line Gauge Works in CA does excellent work...

I guessing that it is an old-school clock with gears, springs, pawls, cog wheels, and such...not unlike an ordinary wristwatch of the era.

In those days.....if you had a wristwatch worth more than $5.00.... it was quite common to bring it to the local watch maker or watch-repair shop every year or so for a 'servicing'. I well remember my parents doing so. Failure to do so usually resulted in the watch conking out more sooner than later.

However, the clocks in automobiles never received that kind of care even though they're subject to the same conditions....or worse...than your old wristwatch.

That's why they commonly fail!

Cheers

He,he!!!

I've a box of old wrist watches. some winders, some quartz.
Haven't worn any for a decade or more.

But, at this stage, precise time no longer an issue.

The big bronze mantle clock pooped out. No matter. Get time on the TV easily.

Don't bother setting the clock on the micro wave either. It works
just fine on 00.00.

The stove clock works fine. Kind of a master for a quick check.

Lower left of this monitor says 6:32 as I type. Good enough!!

The clock radio went bust. effort to fix stalled. Busted plastic.
tossed it.

Resurrected a fancy wood cased one. Little quartz clock has neat "shine in the dark" hands. Only the stuff is duff. Handy little flash light rejuvenates it for a couple of minutes. never been much on alarm setting, now seldom.

A couple of clocks in the shop are always stopped??? Housed to close to Lucas electrics???

The Jeep has two clocks. The Jaguar trip computer spits out nonsense, but the time is right!!!

Oh, and the cell clock is great.

Don't use my antique Dell Axim 5, pocket Pc any m ore. it's clock is always right???

I wonder if the local Watch maker is still in business or gone.

Hello and thank you all. I was hoping for a quick fix, take the entire thing apart and oil something, or.. As most things on a Jaguar this clock does not have to work, it just has to look pretty. If the clock would work that would be a plus and a fun job, but shipping it over for a hundred bucks is a bit too much for a clock in my opinion. Maby later when the car is back together and has a engine, etc.
