Today my fan clutch gave up the ghost. Strange but mine is locked up and running constantly at engine speed.
I did some checking online and the cheapest one I found was just under $200.00.
Has anyone installed an electric fan instead?
Is there a later model water pump and fan clutch that would interchange on the '75 4.2L?

MMM, '75 means steel multi blade fan??.
Careful with that locked up, as blades will part company with the rest of the unit.
S3 plastic fan and hub "should" be a direct fit on the snout of the water pump. its been a while, so a tad fuzzy. Those plastic fans also seperate, so be careful if contemplating s/hand.
Mine all run twin thermo fans (Ford Falcon down here), and YES they are all V12's, but the radiator is the same dimensions as the 6 cyl in that vintage.

My otherwise powered XJ6 relies on as pair of after market eklectrics intended for a Mustang of some vintage. They are controlled by the PCM. They fit just right. They perform perfectly. The only feature I do not use is the run after shut down. I just have a penchant for all off when the key is off.
Yean, ancient steel at high rpm is not a good idea. Examples of parting blades proliferate most specie using that method.
I have a tale or two as to that.
