Series 3 electrical issues

Found the problem, fuse #5 and #6 are bridged together by means of a metal "tab", this tab links the inner half of the bottom clasps of fuse #5 and #6 respectively. My problem turned out to be a slightly rusty connection on the "tab" side of fuse #5, thereby not allowing power to flow to fuse #6.
A good check for anyone else having the same trouble.
Thank you all for your responses.

At least I can remove a centre console now, Jose, not that I plan on doing it again though
Haha thanks Doug, I'll know for next time!
No water there, JagCad, she came to me with a few minor spots of rust, she was hardly used in her previous life and not garaged. When I notice any spots I treat them with a little oil. All rust to be sorted when finance allows.
Thank you all.

Hi all
Another "electrical issue" has been brought to my attention, the throttle position micro switch...
Mine is set so that the microswitch closes the circuit as soon as the accelerator is applied, i.e the circuit it open only on idle, which I am told is incorrect. Can anyone point me in the right direction to adjust this switch?
Also, I am not convinced that the switch is even wired correctly, the PO re-wired the loom that feeds this switch and did it all in blue, does anyone know the ECU pin numbers for this switch?
Many thanks

Nathan:
I've not the slightest idea as to what this micro switch does????
Do you have the Jaguar schematic for your car? S57 is for the 4.2 cars.
Mine has been invaluable to me. There must be the equivalent for your car.
I suggest a search, here and elsewhere. One source I knew of has retired...

Where is this switch located on the car? Is it on the throttle capstan?
If so, it's probably the load enrichment switch....which should close at about 3/4 throttle. The lever arm of the switch rides on the capstan....which itself operates like a cam shaft to actuate the switch

It is located on the throttle cable in the engine bay, it sits right above the fuel rail.
I think it is the load enrichment switch, thanks for that Doug, I'll re-adjust it. Strange that Jaguar don't gve an adjustment for it, 3/4 should be about right though. I'm told that it is used to enrich the mixture when the manifold vacuum can no longer provide feedback at high load settings...

Actually mounted on the throttle cable ? You're looking at the kickdown switch. The switch actuator arm rides over an opening in the throttle cable casing. A little bump on the inner cable moves the actuator arm at full throttle

In essence, yes.
But the enrichment switch is mounted on the throttle tower, right alongside the capstan the that the cable wraps around

This illustrates the kickdown switch, mounted on the throttle cable

I nearly went at the wrong item there... Thanks Doug!
Anyway I've still got a problem, I think...
I got the car with the kickdown switch adjusted as such that the actuator would move out of the indentation as soon as the throttle was taken off idle... Is this correct? Or should the switch only "switch" once full throttle has been applied?

Yes.
Have a helper sit in the car while you observe throttle cable movement thru the small opening in the throttle cable casing. With the throttle pedal hard on the floor you should see a little 'knob' or 'bump' appear in the opening. 'Tis this little bump that moves the actuator arm on the kickdown switch. Adjust the switch so that it actuates as soon as it 'ramps up' on the little bump.
Cheers

For some markets (USA for one) there was both an electric enrichment switch and a vacuum/electric enrichment switch. Other markets used only the vacuum switch.
So, you should the vacuum/electric switch.
It's blue/white, vacuum hoses and two wires attached, mounted (roughly) over the RH cam cover, well aft.
If I crack the throttle open with the ignition on I can hear all the injectors fire, hope this helps...
'Tis the Throttle Position Sensor doing that. The TPS is mounted *under* the throttle capstan.
(On morning start-up, if you're so inclined, you can turn the key 'on' and press the throttle once to 'fire' the injections....giving the cylinders a shot of fuel to make starting easier.)
Cheers

Hi all
New electrical problem here, her blowers will only blow on a low speed, even on the defrost setting... Anyone know why the fans won't blow hard on high as usual?
I've tried changing the temps and played with both dials, but her fans will only blow softly as if they're stuck on low.
