Default Series I jack - What's it look like?

Does anyone have any photos of the jack from a Series I XJ6?

Is it functionally any different from a Series II/III car (I presume not)?

This is what I found in my trunk this evening. Looks stock but I'm sure others will chime in if its not.

Cheers

^ Yep, that's it...
Different from the Series 3 in the way that it cranks..
There should be a tool to crank the Series 1 jack also... (The Series 3 uses the lug wrench)..

The Series 3 also has a solid base that the scissors extend from, where this Series one slides one side on the ground for extension...

Cheers

Thanks guys. Sounds like I should just seek out an S-III jack, unless an earlier one falls into my lap.

I think it unwise to use such a jack on ANY car that is more than 10 years old!! Get a proper hydraulic lift and use the much stronger suspension to lift the car . And do not forget the axle stands. I had a bad experience of creaking sounds coming from a jacking point whilst lifting a series 2. At the Annual MOT it failed on corroded body parts.

littlelic: I agree with you, and when working on the car, I always use a hydraulic jack. However, I still need something to carry in the car in case I get a flat. I'll be certain to give a close inspection of the jacking points before I use them.

Here are some photos to compare the Series 1 jack (blue) and Series 3 (black) ... Also the tool used to screw the jack, and the different bags that they used to store them.
The Series 3 tool was used both on the lugs, and the jack...
