You might have to just put in a quarts clock and forget about converting the one you have.
I was pleasantly surprised to find the PO had done that already to Nix. As I had never seen an OEM clock, I have no idea if it's correct or not. Certainly it looks pretty good in the hole.

I found a second Series 2 clock in my parts hoard and it works! Amazing! The orange needle counts the Seconds, and the clock itself is the Quartz version of the KIENZLE clock of W Germany. I am refurbishing the cosmetics, from one clock to the other. The "pretty" one does not work, the "ugly" one works perfectly.
