Default Set Screw on Ignition

What would be my best best to replace the tiny tiny set screw that secures the electronic ignition inside the key barrel? it is so so tiny.

I will assume you mean the SMALL sucker that holds the Electrical Section to the Mechanical Section??

If so, probably in one of my coffee jars in the shed, but the "bubble" is broken, not so good an idea. HA.

Find people that repair Laptops, phones, and other such Geek stuff, they will have sommething.

Back when I played with these, we had Tandy, Dick Smith Electronics, etc, and they had little packets of all sorts of screws and washers etc.

Good luck.

Take the piece to some place like a RC hobby shop or specialty fastener retailer. An outfit called Fastenall might have a branch down there, they're nation-wide up here. If you can figure out the size and pitch, and find a screw that fits, you can cut it to length and slot the end with jewelers files. I don't know the exact screw you need, but there are other small or detailed "car pieces" that use really small screws to hold things together. Time to go scrounging. Good luck.

most any old car Radio will have the proper size phillips screw. you are also missing the Vinyl Sleeve over both parts.

How important is the rubber ("Vinyl Sleeve ") around the cylindrical section that is noted as missing? Can insulation take be used in it's place?

Thought the tiny screw should have been designed to be on both sides but only allow for one. makes it less easy to figure the location and less secure.

Making things easy or logical was Not a consideration in the minds of designers of these cars. Ever!
If there's a hard way, they found it. If there wasn't one, they Invented it.

Never paid much attention to that sleeve. Some of mine had it, some did not, I simply moved on once that silly screw was in place and the switch did as it was designed.

Easy is for Ford, GM and the other stuff, Jag be different.

When I encountered some of the 'interesting engineering" features on my car, I thought of the guys at brown's lane, on the line, doing the tasks, fast !!!!

When I dropped the scuttle on my car to swap out the ignition switch, I made some changes. Allen head screws in lieu of the slotted head screws.

Busted om plastic. repaired some with epoxy. A bit of gaffer tape, in black in one place.

A PO had unplugged the key on alarm. for an unknown reason, I reconnected it!!!!
