Side Marker Lights

Side Marker Lights
I was surprised to find that there is no electrical wire disconnect on the front side marker light assembly to allow removal. At the lamp assembly there is a fixed connector to the bulb socket that accepts a bullet connector on the ground wire but no way to unattach the live wire! The wires appear to have been never tinkered with and are protected by a fairly heavy plastic sheath that is in good condition, I squeezed the wires along the way up to where they dissapear into the body work near the headlamp fuse box and couldn't feel any connectors hidden under the sheath. If anyone has had a front marker light off the car recently please let me know where the wire connection is?

You may find that excess wire has been stored inside the channel running along the top of the wing (fender). I found the connector you are looking for by gently pulling on the red wire and working the slack out through the entrance hole on the engine bay side. Here is a diagram of the circuit and shows the marker/park hot wires connecting to the hot wire from the fuse panel. CF5 and CF2 are the connectors you're looking for. CF4 and CF3 are the bulkhead pass-through for the wire harness's on the left and right side.

that is weird because in my 1984 the red wire connects to a double rubber bullet connector near the lamp and from the rubber connector a second bulleted red wire goes into the sheathed harness along with the ground wire.
I understand that for the 1986 model year a number of changes happened, but to not be able to disconnect at or near the lamp itself is beyond absurd.
If I found myself in that situation, I would cut the red (bulb) wire in two and attach a wire splicer to both ends near the lamps to make it easy to disconnect and reconnect in the future.
