Slipping transmission

Slipping transmission
My car was overheating, now after replacing the thermostat and flushing the system, my trans slipped a bit on the way to work this morning. I was traveling at 40-50 mph, with my foot on the floor, and it acted like i put it in neutral. I backed off and coasted then I was able to gain traction again. Am I in need of a tranny or just a fluid change in the transmission? Original 3 speed automatic, with origional 4.2 is the drive train.

Probably the bands need adjustment as we've seen before....https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=11552
I like the idea of a "quarterbreed" using a TH350, or 700R4 GM tranny. That may offend some purists and a complete tranny swap may be more than you need, but I'm just offering my opinion/other options.

Agreed on adjusting the bands and seeing what happens. Here are some tidbits.

A fluid change would be a good idea just on GPs
Cheers
