I put new tires on the front and the two best on the rear. They weren't the best I guess. Freaking exploded at 75. Glad it wasn't the front.

Oh, yeah. I had that happen to Nix.

I discovered these tires were 10 years old when I got the car! It's all reported here:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...are-me-124332/

That event was the reason for a Very loooong thread, https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-speed-125023/

The entire thread flew off, cause paint damage up into the pillar as well, bur I think I can buff it out. I'm calmed down a little now.
I should be happy that all that happened was a tire. I'm on a 2000 mile trip and she's running like a purring kitty....As she should.....with alll the crap I've done and rebuilding the tranny recently..I'm happy with her...
Did that just happen to NIX recently?

I used to think tyre blow outs where a thing of the distant past and since hanging around JF have seen that is incorrect. I had an original used 1986 metric spare in another car and decided to get rid of it. Had to get a 17" wheel made up to suit but worth it I think to have a reliable spare. The old wheel made a nice coffee table in the garage too.

Last tyre blow out I saw was following a b-double about six years ago, tread tore off and flung the plastic guard with it. I was following.
Right over my head, lucky I ducked.(was on a motorcycle at the time)

Good grief!!!! Quick stop for a change of under garments???

I make a practice of avoiding big trucks and motorcycles on the road.

That is one big .... truck!!!! Truckers around here make/made a practice of recaps astern and new tires on the front axle. If a capped tire goes low on air, it will heat and is likely to toss that cap. Not to mention that cap quality is quite variable.

Thanks! I am impressed. That picture reminds me of out Sonoran desert. Where I grew up, two lane highway as well. Now mostly freeway or interstate divided.
Lots of "big" trucks but dwarfed by those "road trains".

Ah, the road trains! Good pics Steve.

Overtaking a RT is an experience! As for passing one coming in the opposite direction with full steam up on a 2 lane highway, side draft buffets the car like a light plane landing in chronic wind sheer! RT's mostly dwell on desert highways doing mega interstate runs - not something we encounter everyday in our Jags!

I look at pics like those and wonder what they are doing in Russia. At least we have loosely observed and enforced rules. Russia always seems like the wild west to me. I'm probably over influenced by Youtube videos.
