fortunately I don't have that issue Doug. The thing fits like a glove and does the job properly. Only thing I don't like is that horrible orange color. I thought of painting it silver but what the heck, I don't care anymore about cosmetic things, what matters to me is a spare just in case.

A while back I had a rear tire off of my 98 XJR while putting a repaired flat back on. Just for the heck of it, I tried to put one of my extra series 1 rims on it and they were way off in the hub size and fit. Unless I'm wrong, I don't see an XJR spare fitting a series 1. Maybe the xjr fits the s1, but the s1 doesn't fit the xjr ??

Some of the later wheels, even with the same bolt pattern, have a tapered 'cone'....the part where the emblem snaps into....which prevents them from working on earlier cars. I've tried.

This wouldn't be an issue on the compact spares....although the overall size of the center hole must still be considered.

Just double check before buying.

Cheers

Husband searched for one of those donut spares since this first came up but found Nothing correct in any of the sources listed. So, one day as he was cruising Craigs List, he found some guy in one of the Sacramento suburbs selling a pair of Kent wheels.

AHA!! he thought, the Original Equipment wheel should Certainly fit in the spare well with the correct tire! So he took them to a tire shop and had them mounted with a couple good used tires (only 2 years old) of the correct size.

As Nix doesn't have a locking diff, it shouldn't cause any trouble other than weird driving to the next tire repair place (which Will be found ASAP) and it fits Perfectly in the well and the cover lies flat.

The carpet has taken a set over the last 30 years of trying to cover a thick spare, but a couple warm trips with Stuff in the trunk weighing it down will flatten it eventually.
