Default SU carbies over fuelling

Hey guys i have now encountered another painful problem.
My Series 3 has twin su's on it & it is over fueling badly. Not only that but on the hit of the throttle the rear slide works fine but the front one is almost working like a secondary carb it is that slow.

I did test drive the car before i bought it & i drove like a dream & even when i 1st got it home it was fine.

This all started after having it running in the driveway for some time to charge the buggered battery which has now been replaced along with the severely fouled spark plugs.
Any tips would be muchly appreciated as i have never played with su's.

SU HD8 and HS8 carby's are slightly different, the write up below is for HS8's but a quick google of HD8 tuning will show the difference.

Go to the link Below, post #6 of the thread has a downloadable PDF.

I must Thank you greatly Clarke for guiding me to this information & also putting it together in the 1st place. That must have been a mammoth effort.
Anyway i followed the procedures & the car is running heaps better, still not perfect but good enough to drive on the road to get the roadworthy on Friday.
Then it will be going to the Jag guy at Sandgate for a very thorough once over & tune.

Yep, steep learning curve for me but got it running sweet and have repeated the process a few times since.

You will never get a perfectly smooth idle, I have tried many times over, even with a new engine. From all accounts here on the forums you will get close but never perfect.

Independant Jaguar workshop at Sandgate have a really good name , but I hear they are expensive. Can't say for sure because I haven't been there.

Any parts or gaskets for your carby's are available at Progas in Wooloongabba.

So, were they HS8's?

This roadworthy guy will come to you, and I have always has great success with Tony.

Yep, HS8's & yeah the Independant is expensive compared to some but i am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. The roady is being done by the guy that services all of our vehicles at work & he's promised to be "understanding".
I am finding very quickly that owning a Jag is a lot like owning an old Triumph motorcycle. A fair bit of work but the rewards will be worth it.

My guy is much more than very understanding if he knows what you are doing with the vehicle.
Being a multiple ex Triumph owner I know where you are coming from.

If you want some help with those HS8's send me a pm, I have a healthy relationship with mine now.
