Tachometer issue

Tachometer issue
Hi,
As I was trying to get to my fuel gauge, I needed to remove the tach. The bulbs and the spade connector came off easily, but the bullet connector to the tach wouldn't budge. Eventually, I decided to cut the wire and splice it back later.
That strategy didn't work when I spliced it back. I thought it might be the tach, and it was. It turns out that I broke the wire attached to the bullet connector. I soldered it back on. Regrettably, it still doesn't work so I'm trying to determine if its the wire or the tach.
What sort of voltage should I be getting from the bullet connector? Its really low- .4 or so- but that may because it sends signals. Can anyone tell me if my assumption is correct and that 0.4 is fine? If it is, then I am probably dealing with a faulty tach. If so, whats the procedure for testing a tach?
Thanks- I am scaling the learning curve as quickly as I can, but my speed is close to that of a panda unfortunately.

You need Jaguar schematic S57. The tach is operated by ignition pulses.
Use a jumper and insert a small bulb in the jumper. crank the enginup. if the wire you spliced is sound, the lamp will blink. It is making and breaking grund!!! If open or fails to blink you have a connectivith issue.
or, it is the power to thee instrument that is open!!!
