Trans pan gasket replacement 1989 xj6

First and foremost WELCOME abord.
Your 1989 XJ6 VP is known as an XJ40 in Jag talk. Fear not, we were all confused in the beginning also.
Yours will be the ZF 4HP24 transmission (4 speed). I would replace the filter whilst the pan is off, although it is a "metal mesh" style filter which I usually simply wash in petrol and dry off, and refit.
That gasket is a rubber style and the securing bolts have "special" spacers (for want of a better word) so please take notice of this prior to ripping it apart.
Plese do an Intro in teh "New members area intro is a must" when time permits.

thanks
Thank you very much for your welcome aboard greeting and for the clarification on the XJ40...I appreciate the advise on the pan bolts, I will look closely when I start to remove it.
I have ordered a kit that looks like it is coming with a spoung type filter and what also looks like a pump oring or gasket. I guess I will take a close look when I open it up.
thank you very much for your time and advise!
