Vacuum Hose

Vacuum Hose
1974 XJ6, Have an issue finding where one of the Vacuum hoses is supposed to attach. It's on the thermo vacuum switch. Have no idea where its supposed to go. I've attached a parts layout photo to show what I'm talking about its the closer line 38, coming off part 36. I know one of them goes to the manifold under the engine but the other I don't know.
Any help would be appreciated, as my engine is idling at about 3000 at the moment and I believe this may have something to do with it, or the carbs need serious adjustment, or something else/

Tony,
No idea where that hose might start or finish, as we did not get that complicated set up down here.
However, for a carby car to be idling at 3000rpm, almost half throttle, there is something SERIOUSLY wrong with the carbies. A vac leak on them would not give that much rise to the idle speed.
Due to age, has it still got the Stromberg CD carbies, or has it been converted to SU carbies. That would be helpful in trying to sort carby issues.

FYI. The diagram is for a RHD. The thermal vacuum switch gets vacuum on port 1 closest the manifold. The other ports open when the proper engine temperature is achieved. One goes to the air pump diverter valve, the other goes to the charcoal canister solenoid and the other goes to the air cleaner. If need be I can take some pics of my engine if you have any problems.

Had a thought since its a S2 carby car.
Has the outer casing section of the throttle cable become dislodged and sitting proud of its seat at the cardy end??. This would in effect have the carby linkage under tention, and that would prevent the linkages from returning to the idle stop position. I ask this coz it did happen to our S2 Daimler with SU carbs waaaaaay back, and frustrated the hell out of me for nearly 2 hours.
If this thing is overfueling as much as you suggest, it would need sufficient air to maintain running, or the fuel would simply flood the engine and stall it out.
The throttle plates of the carbies MUST be open for this amount of revs to be available at presumed "idle".

Mr. Grant Thank You
Thanks Grant, it was indeed the throttle plates, that were stuck open. I took the carbs off and freed them up, through a little more carb cleaner in there and, then she fired up, and I was able to get the idle down to around 1000, still have some playing to do with them to tune them up.
I still cannot find where that hose goes to, I took a picture of the hose I'm talking about its the one with a yellow band on it. Any help would be appreciated.
