i try to use the vin # to verify correctness of parts. The answer comes back as invalid or check digit incorrect.
the number is stamped on a piece of metal in the engine compartment, so i do not know what could be wrong.
VIN# SAJJAYLS4CC340971
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

The "piece of metal" on the cowl panel/firewall about where the two fender braces come together? If so, that's the original "born with" VIN and won't compute on any database that's set up to for North American VIN decoding.
Try the vin that's on the winshield pillar. That'll be the one Jaguar assigned to comply with USA regs.
Also, the databases you are trying simply may not be set up to decode older Jag VINs no matter which one you use.
Cheers
