Want to fit 17" S-type wires on my Series 2

diffrent but could be done.
The later S type have a 108mm X 5 bolt pattern. The Series 1,2,3 and XJS and XJ40 use a 120.65 MM X 5 bolt pattern. So they will not fit straight away. You would need to use an adapter ring. They do make adapter rings that are 1 inch thick. My quick calculations suggest a 7.5 wide inch ET60 S type wheel with a 1 inch thick adapter may work because it will end up with 5.6 inches of back spacing which is close to stock on the XJ6. Wire wheels look great but I'd suggest your avoid wire wheels altogether because they are unusually heavy and the wheel's weight will show up as poor ride quality and road holding ability over rough surfaces.

Thank you isamerica! Get technical facts. I know the constraints using wire wheels as I've had my share of British cars. As this is going on a classic sedan and I intend to drive it as that, I'm not too afraid of going with wires except for cleaning them.
Now, what size tires do you think would fit???
