Default What is this bracket?

Right over the battery (1987 Series III) is a flange with a captive nut. The battery hold downs are vertical long bolts on either end of the battery so it can’t be that. Can anyone tell me what this bracket is for? Thanks.

It’s also for the battery hold down, battery bracket should be sort of t shaped, one leg either side and one goes back to that

Darren is correct, my holdown bracket is T shaped with a very large phillips screw and lock washer attaching the center hook to the firewall.

It is a 3-way holdown, 2 vertical hooks, one on each side of battery, 1 horizontal hook over the center of the battery

Son of a gun; learn something new every day. I've never seen a three point battery hold down before. Thanks for your help!

It's for all those Spirited corners and other sudden changes of direction you do, Jeff, so the battery doesn't go flying.

On right hand drive cars it is used for the brake pedal box
