What model of S3 has rear head rests?
Hi: My '87 base XJ6 does not have rear head rests. Did these come with just the VDP or also the Sovereign as well. Also what year(s) were they offered. My plan is to find a seat back with them and do a swap. I feel it finishes the inside look and makes the car appear sportier. Ren

if you have a Base XJ-6, the rear seat Back or "squab" foams are different from the Vanden Plas XJ-6. I don't know about the Sovereign.
All you need are the Headrests and fit them to your squab. I did so in my XJ-6. the frame shoulder is already prepared for headrests, what changes are the seat foams and seat covers, but all the Frames are the same for all 3 models.

I forgot to say that the mountings for the headrests are already part of the frame, black hollow tubes where the chromed headrest tubes are pushed into, at least in my 1984 Base XJ-6 they were, but they were hidden by the seat cover, you only see them when you remove the rear seat Back or "squab" and look behind it.
So you insert a clothes hanger from the rear of the seat through the tubes and puncture the vinyl where the frame tube is, then you just push the headrest "tubes" down through the slit puncture,
the rear headrestss are not adjustable up/down, you just press them down until they "seat" on the shoulder of the frame.
They make the interior of the car a lot cozier.
none of this is documented in the Service Manual.
