Default Water pump return from Heater core

Here are the photos. Could be better but... hopefully you get the idea.

yachtman.....Thanks for the 3 pictures. This is the identical configuration which I have now on my 77 XJ6. Basically, when the engine is cold and the thermostate is shut, all that hot water on the engine block can only go to the heater and to the carby manifolds (in my case since the hoses are still hooked up to the carbs). The dash heater has a return line which is that metal pipe running alonside the block and plugs into the waterpump area. So, my concern was that removing the line running to the carbies would leave only the one dash heater return hose going back to the water pump.......and that the engine would get too hot and build up pressure if the dash heater was in the "off" position.

In your case, it seems that this heater return hose is all you have, and it must be working fine or you would have seen something by now. Do you still have a thermostat hooked up between the block and the radiator? Maybe my theory about having no return hoses going back to the water pump (if heater is "off" and the carbie hoses are disconnected) is not correct, and the engine somehow does fine.....maybe the thermostate opens up fast enough to cause any trouble.

Geneo........Beautiful work....I love that carb set-up.

Can you address specifically your opinion regarding the water flow when the engine is running and the thermostate is closed? With your heater in the "off" position, do you think there is any water moving before the thermostat opens up?

When I was contemplating this setup, I decided that the best thing to do would be to totally bypass the dash heater and just loop the heater hose back around and plug into the pipe going back to the water pump.......to allow water flow when the therm is shut.

thats a great plan except I have to pass emissions with my 75 series 2 where I live or try to once I figure out the master cylinder problem I have.
