Wheel option for xj6 series 1
I would like to know if i can fit bigger diameter wheels on my series 1 xj6 jag hubs. Currently I have the usual 15 inch wheel but would like to have maybe 18 or 19 inch wheels if possible. To be clear these jag hubs are not on a jag car but on a customized Toyota Landcruiser so l feel l should apologize upfront for that on this forum. Nevertheless I am keen to get this information please.

From my understanding the wheel center hole has to be "on the money" as the car 's weight is fully on it and the 5 bolts simply hold the wheel on. So I have been told or have read somewhere.... as well the offset is important.
Pay attention to these items before you open the "big wallet" and commit to some new wheels.

I'm pretty certain that my S1 wheels are not hub centric and the wheel is centered by the conical lug nuts. Now my Ford truck is hub centric and the lug nuts are flat so the wheel has to mate correctly with the hub. I'm guessing that the Jag S1 center hole can be slightly larger as needed.

Wheels from e39 5 series BMW have the correct center bore and the right bolt pattern. Some will argue the difference between 120 & 120.65 mm is a deal breaker, but the owner and founder of CCW disagrees, and I align with his camp. I bought some 17X8 e39 wheels for my series 3, and if it ever gets above 60*F here in IL, I am going to fit them.

Purely a matter of taste. But, a couple of years back a similar Jaguar appeared on sale. Very ne car, but up on 18's or 19's !!! Not cool to me. reminded me of an insect!!!!
Mine has migrated to wider 15's of XJS origin. Look right, drive right
From way back in other critters, I've learned that bolt pattern is only the beginning,

He stated in his first post that this is for a Toyota Landcruiser with series 1 suspension, which I almost overlooked myself. And completely agree that bolt pattern is just the cost of admission. Hub bore, offset and even spoke design all have a significant impact on wheel fitment.
I had some BMW style 19 wheels (7 spoke 2 piece) that were the right spec for my M roadster suspension, but the spoke hit the caliper. Style 32 wheels (15 spoke 1 piece) of the same specs fit perfectly.

I had a look !!! Interesting, indeed. And, I was wrong. The Land Cruiser in question is indeed the same specie as my 69 FJ40. I liked that old truck, foibles and all.
Too bad, the donor car looked quite decent!!!
As to the hubs in this application. A carful look at them should reveal a circular seating surface in two planes to receive the hole in the center of the wheel. In turn the center hole in the wheel should reveal a rolled edge to seat on that circular surface.
I'm having trouble visualizing a steel wheel that relies only on the lugs to support the vehicle weight.
PS:
Nice project well executed, my compliments.

Almost any Chevy muscle car wheels will fit with little problems as well. They are they right bolt pattern and sometimes the right hub size (usually bigger) I personally have a set of BBS Mahle 15x7, a set of XJR 17x8 and a set of BMW M Parallels 18x8. To get the BMW wheels to fit i got a bolt on spacer which works well and gives me a good offset as well. Im not worried about the use of spacers, i know some people are, but hey if Diago Siato can run 2 50mm spacers bolted together on a 1000hp GTR drift car then im pretty sure they're not that bad.

Thank you Carl and Sunchip, good useful information. Seems l have quite a few options. Carl, the donor car at first glance did look ok as the paint wasn't that old but did hide a lot of sins and the interior was absolutely shot. Have to admit though that my family initially thought I was going crazy. 😀
