Default Windshield and rear glass seal kits

Im going to repair the common rust areas around both windshield and rear glass. Which seal kits do you guys recommend for reinstallation of the glass? Front and rear.

Here's what I used on my 1985 S3.Front Windscreen Seal BAC1977*
Rear Windscreen Seal BAC2288*

BBC5889* (fits front and rear)
BAC4794* (fits front and rear)

All from: https://www.sngbarratt.com/English/#...Parts/Families

You will need this stuff too: 3M Urethane Windshield Adhesive, 08693
I got mine at Amazon

Thanks! I started repairs, and the rear windscreen came out with no issues, which happens to be the rustiest of rustiest. The front wont come out. So Im going to leave it alone and work around it. I dont want to crack the Triplex glass.

This is the worst of it in the front.

The rear needed it badly. Im sure Im giving this car more life!

You have the same rust issues in the same locations that most of us have had to deal with. When you say the rear glass came with no issues, but the front glass won't come out, how are you going about removing them? As you should have found at the rear glass, they are both "glued" in place----they have to be cut out to remove them. How did you get the rear one out without "issues"?
There are cutting tools you can buy online or locally just for this purpose, but the best in my opinion is windshield cut-out wire. Available at parts stores or Amazon. Here's a couple of screen prints of the shop manual with explanation of the process. There will be lots of rust under the paint and in the pinch-weld ledge, I used a rust converter, also available from Amazon.
I recommend removing the front glass, you have a much better chance of fixing the rust problem.

I had two glass guys come out to remove the front glass but the glue wont cut so easily. The rear glass came out easily because it did allow for it to be cut. Both professionals warned me that it will break because the glue that was used at some point is very strong and wont cut so easily. So Ive decided to not remove it since the rust is not as bad there. I am going to repair the little bit that is there though. I am using a rust converter too. Im working on the car at my friends body shop so theyre being very helpful in dealing with this. If the rust returns in the front, Ill deal with it again, by risking a cracked windscreen. But I just dont want to do that at this moment. Luckily, I live in Socal so this car wont be seeing too much rain, and I wash the car myself.

Fair enough. From what I can see, the paint looks nice. Good luck.

It has been repainted once before. The rest of the car looks great, but I will be color sanding the entire car to match things up a little better. I just want the car to survive the next 50 years or so… but also looking great! Thanks!

The painter knows my struggles so he took over. He knows what he’s doing.

The body is now officially safe and sound. I will continue to upload pics as I progress. Once the glass is back in, Im going to color sand the whole car and buff it out to make it all blend and look fresh again.

Car is now finished. Enjoyed the day driving it and will start looking for vacuum leaks.

No new seals, spot repair only. If the rust returns I will redo it and risk breaking the windshield.

New seals and fully restored metal.
