Windshield wiper parking...silly trick...
I have an 87 series III, and like millions and millions of other older jag owners, my wipers sometimes park properly, sometimes they stop at the position in which I turned them off. I discovered accidently (probably known to all jag owners except me...), that when they don't park properly, all I have to do is pull the wiper switch as if to wash the windshield. This causes the wipers to cycle and park where they are suppose to.
Just a silly trick for all of you, like me, who are "learning" with their first Jaguar....

Good sleuthing :-)
That's the pull-back-for-one-swipe feature. It cycles the motor once.
Another trick to park the wipers is to pull the lever down to the delay setting until the wipers cycle once.
When/if you get tired of all this, replace the wiper switch. That usually solves the problem. There's also a "park switch" on the motor itself but they seldom fail.
Cheers

Replace the switch...hmmm....
1) Take note of the steering wheel position & try to remember it exactly.
2) take out the two screws holding the horn button on and remove
3) loosen the plastic horn contact and remove along with the tube
4) loosen and remove the nut holding the steering wheel on, remove wheel, bump out with hand if needed
5) catch the two spacers that center the wheel (?)
6) remove the telescoping wheel assembly
7) unplug the turnsignal/wiper switch (mine are one unit) and loosen the screw that holds the switch in place, slide the switch off the steering column.
8) assemble in the reverse.
Notable trick- put a small amount of bearing grease on the two spacers in #5 to hold them in place for assembly. They wont stay there by themselves and gravity always wins if you dont use some grease.......
I had to perform that task when I replaced the turn signal switch, takes about 30 minutes. Nah, I'll just keep cycling the wipers : )
