XJ12 Oil Leak (Missing Connection?)
All,
I havent posted much since i got the XJ12 drivable a year or so ago (maybe more?). I have been busy finishing up our fixer upper home and prepping for a newborn baby to come any week now!
Ive mainly just been driving her on the weekends around town. Ill be working on the car more as these house projects wrap up and the dust settles with the baby, but on to my current predicament...
When pulling back into the driveway i noticed an oil leak dripping from under the drivers side portion of the radiator and traced it back to this tubing that is not connected to anything? Its two male end threaded nuts on either side, im assuming there was a connection piece in the middle, not sure what happened to it?
Can someone educate me on what this tubing does and what the missing connection is? Any ideas on what could of happened to it?
Thanks!
Patrick

A bit blurry but I think that's the pipe for the air conditioning condenser and what's missing is the 'drier'....a canister-like component containing a desiccant.
The a/c system does use oil....but it wouldn't be anything like engine or transmission oil, if that's what you're seeing.

I gotcha its mainly a slow drip and it appeared to be coming from the tubing. I might have to do some further investigating.
If i dont use the AC system is it still fine to drive without the 'drier' or would keeping it an open system mess something else up? Im imagining the 'drier' has always not been there im just now noticing it.
Thanks for the input!

Oh, yeah, it sure looks like the drier is missing. And, exposure to the air has probably messed up the compressor. although, it may have been messed up and as such the drier was removed in an effort to fix the AC that was never completed. 50 bucks or so will buy a good drier. Put it in, just for...
