xj6 s1 1971 azzure blue update
Last time I posted I had her going but was just starting, wouldnt rev and was backfiring, spitting out of front carby.
Having taken the HD8 carbs to pieces Im not surprised. The float bowl on front carby was dry as a dust bowl totally clogged with crud at the fuel entry point and the rear carb not much better.
Im amazed it even ran!
I would say Ill be putting a kit through it looking at some now available in australia and from the UK, best to get the shafts re bushed as well. I do love the SU though...such a simple principal.
Ill be checking the fuel line blow some compressed air through it.
Interesting set up where the carbs bolt to the inlet manifold...inbuilt rubber gaskets and springs keeping tension on the fasteners, so allowing for some movement? Why was this done?
Anything else to look for on repair and re-assembly??
In other news Ill be taking delivery of a 93 xj40 next week..kingfisher blue cream interior...high k's but nice...(yes it runs)
