XJ6 S3 Aux Radiator Fan MOD
I have been thinking to repurpose the Map Light Switch to augment the Aux Fan Temperature Switch on the radiator.
I haven't used the map light in 12 years of owner ship.
What is the easiest way to get to the back of the Map Light Switch for re wire? see picture below.
All suggestions appreciated

You might get the switch out by removing the trip computer and....if you have small hands....getting behind the switch to push it out. It'll take some wriggling as the switch has little tabs to hold it in. If you can push it out past two of the four tabs it oughta come out the rest of the way. The trip computer just pulls out from the front; get your fingernails under the edges and pull a bit.
If not you'll have to remove the panel.
To remove the panel....
Pull the climate control knobs
Remove the slotted nuts behind the climate control knobs
Remove radio
With this done you'll see two screws in the area above the radio opening. Remove the screws and pull the panel downward and outward
You might have to remove the console ski slope.....the panel that the ashtrays sit in. For some reason I'm having a brain dead moment on that particular point. Odd, since I've done this task many times. Gah ! Old age?
Cheers

Project complete: Map lite switch now turns on Aux Radiator fan; Radiator Temperature Switch still in loop for auto on and off. Must not leave Map Lite switch on after shutdown, as unlike thermo switch, fan will just keep running. Once off, fan will not come on with Map Lite switch until ignition switch on.
Once again, Thank you Doug for insight on easy access, made this project simple.
