Hello, I'd like to know where I can find a repair manual for my series 1 XJ6 with 2.8l engine and manual transmission?

The car has been standing for years and I'm trying to get it running again. Any help would be useful since I'm a beginner with Jaguars.

Have you searched the internet ? Obviously you'll be looking to pick up a used one. There may also be pdfs available too, so you can print your own. Certainly one can buy Series 3 manuals easily.

If you didn't know it, the 2.8 litre engine was known for burning holes in pistons, so check this isn't the case with yours. There is a partial cure, but it was never completely cured, all Jaguar did was stop making the 2.8 !! Modern unleaded fuel that doesn't coke up engines like the old stuff probably means the syndrome won't occur again. Jaguar found that it was carbon build-up on the pistons that caused detonation.
