Default XJ6 Series 2 & 3 Floor Mats

Looking for advice and recommendations on a good quality, reasonably priced black rubber floor mat for our 1974 XJ6 and our 1987 XJ6. I think I'm done a pretty thorough search on the forum and I'm surprised there isn't more discussion. There's some interesting talk about the furry mats but they wouldn't work so well in New England, where our cars will not be used in the winter and where there is a lot of dirt and sand. I appreciate that the Cocoa mats' quality and look, but we have a few cars and I am looking for something more reasonably priced to protect the interior of our cars. I saw something on that is close to what I'm looking for on Instagram

if anyone recognizes it. Thank you.

I found some corrugated rubber mat in bulk at a car parts store. I cut sections for the bot of my jaguar and the hatch of my Jeep. Left overs used here and there. Step for my bench, etc...

Those might be Hexomat brand or maybe Lloyd mats. I don't think the Hexomats are offered in custom sets specifically made for the XJ6 or XJS but rather are universal and can be trimmed to fit. I bought a set of Hexomats for an XJS years ago and ended up returning them. They have a bit of a funky smell and I wasn't sure it would go away with over time after reading some reviews. They were oversized compared to the stock mats and would need to be trimmed to fit.

You might try autoanything.com and enter the year/model of your car. They have some universal all-weather options and a few "custom" sets that are supposed to specific to our cars made by Lloyds mats. I haven't tried them, but they come in several colors and if they are a good fit would would seem to be a good option.

Jaguar Accessories offered front rubber mats in the 1980s in limited quantities for the Series 3 XJ-6.

I have been looking for a set since 1990 without any luck.
What you can do is try to find a set of rubber mats for the XJ40 and trim them to fit the Series 2 or 3. The floor contours are different in the Series 2/3 and the XJ40.

ironically, I use a set of XJ40 front rubber mats in my 1965 S type that fits the S type perfectly but doesn't fit my 1984 XJ-6.

Did Jaguar copy the classic S type floor contour for the XJ40? Only they know.

Surprised we seem to have so few reasonable options. One of the first things I like to do in a new to me classic is get new mats. Do most people just run with the OEM carpets?

not me, I always use rubber mats, even in my Ford Minivans, I have been using a Ford set that I purchased new in 1986. Then I moved them to another minivan from 1992,. then moved them to a third minivan from 1997. Still in use today, but no longer offered by Ford.

the rear pair from a XJ40 can be used in the front floors of the Series 2 and 3 XJ. They measure 14.25" high x 21.75 wide. But they can be flipped sideways and they fit perfectly. See them in my website: https://jagupgrades.webstarts.com

They have a tall edge all around to prevent any water spilling onto the carpeting. And they have the Jaguar Leaper emblem engraved on the rubber. They are similar to the ones Jaguar Accessories offered in the 1980s for the XJ-6 but made to fit the XJ40 floor which is a lot wider.

otherwise those shown in the pictures are sold on eBay. Too expensive for what you get, no edging, just a flat piece of cheap material and we can do that ourselves.

Whenever I get a new (used) car I go to Menards and they have the heavy duty mats and runners that are commonly used right inside the front door of commercial buildings. Use the original carpets for a pattern. The top is a very durable flocked material and the back is a rubber material so they're waterproof. Come in black, grey and brown. The best part is you can hose them off. I use them in the boot as well. The only down side is that it doesn't have a lip around the perimeter.
