Default xj6 series II brake booster

Hi All,

Trying to change out a booster on my NTM '75. It's an "executive" built in SA and imported to the states some time ago. Needed a booster. So I ordered a rebuilt one on-line. Looked identical, but of course the 4 bolt pattern on the back is just a hair off. UGH. Anyway, I finally got the old one out, but I'm having trouble figuring out where some things go to get it back together. I don't have a schematic. I'm mostly looking where the spring inside the aluminum housing goes. Any help is appreciated.

J.

Default Brake Pedal Box

Hello, J,
I took some screen shots from the Jaguar CD-ROM, hopefully they'll help you get things back together.

Is it an automatic or manual. In any case I acquired a series booster from an manual car imported in to the USA. I tried to the booster on my series 2 USA automatic and the bolt batter was off. So I may have the booster you need might need if you didnt get the one you have to fit. It hold 15 inches of vacuum over night and is up for sale on ebay. If you get me the distance between the bolts I can see if it the same as the one I have.

My brake booster wasn't working so I tried to fit the brake booster from the XJ12. Didn't fit. So I took the pedal too and now it's fine.

Thanks all. The images from the CD ROM were exactly what I was looking for. Still a bit of learning as the images aren't clear with the spring, but I figured out how its supposed to work. Reassembly is proving to be a challenge. Just need another hand or two that I can control.

This South African built car is really cool. Love the drive. Not sure why I waited so long to get into a classic XJ.

Thanks again.

How often do we see those sentiments!
Thanks again.

You're welcome.
I'm sorry about the quality of the images but that's pretty good compared to some repair manuals I've seen. It's like they're only a hint if you already knew but merely forgot for a moment how it all went.
