XJ6 start up Problem!! Help me!!
Hello good ppls! a week ago my 94 jaguar xj6 have's a hard start up problem. thinking too myself, it was just something ez, i'd check fuses and relays there all ok,*I THINK* but anywho, let me just get to the point here. The car will only start up if I put starter fluid in the Air intake and the car will start up and run just fine and i be on my way. but when i cut the car off, and try to start it up 'Without The Starter Fluid' it doesn't start up :,( ...i put a new fuel pump in (REALLY HARD TO DO) and new Fuel Filter two days ago trying to fix it but no luck yet... and i put a new Fuel Pressure Regulator in but that was 2 years ago, before all of this "Weird Car Drama" happned! i been looking in my haynes book trying to get this fix. but may be im missing something...idk, but i do know i'm running out of ideas here help!

You should post in the "XJ40" section...better chances for a good answer.
My guess...and that's all it is....is that the part of the fuel upmp circuit that operates the fuel pump while the engine is cranking isn't working. But I've never worked on an XJ40/XJ6 so I'm talkin' outta my hat.
Cheers

No problem; the model nomenclature is confusing
i post a new one at the XJ40 section. Thank You...Do you know where i should start looking for something like that? a loose wire my be? Thank You
A loose wire is always a possibility but wait for some replies from those with hands-on XJ40 experience
Cheers

yes i replace the fuel pump relay and still didn't work. I disconnected the outport and fuel comes rushing out. but I'll go rent a fuel pressure gauge later in the morning from autozone and check the pressure it at the rail and post the psi.

Ok i got it, Fuel pressure at the rail is 28-32 psi.

Will it start without starter fluid if you cycle the key a few times before cranking, or just not at all? IE turn the key to run for 3-5 seconds, turn off key... I usually have to do this 3-4 times with my 94 xj12 to prime it enough to start when she's cold, even with new fuel pump, relay, etc. Also is that 28-32 psi the initial pressure to start the car, or was that when it was running?

OK looked up for a fuel check valve on Google. and its Not Available for this car anymore. i balieve i saw some ppl on here saying, the valve is right on the top/on of the pump canister. (i remembered seeing that when i was disconnecting the line from the tank!) if i want a new one i have to buy a whole new pump assembly! thats O_O $600.00 just for that! i know ppl had to install check valves of there own outside the tank to fix the Flow Back problem. but idk if it was the same model as mine or not... Can i put check valve on the car? I need to know What valve to get? what will i need to install it? all of that. I really need to get this jag fixed here. i need to get back on the road

The Cat Is Back Baby!! :icon_wink:
i found what the problem was!. i'd took the Tank out Again -_- it was the fuel pump Canister Lid! first time i took the tank out, i didn't paid No mind to it! But anyways, the pics below is the lid. that i fixed With Heavy Duty Insulated Wire on the non return valve. it's that silver part that broke off from it. i put everything back together and it Started Right Up and Runs great!!!
