I've got a 75 coupe with some Series III mods. It's running but needs a little TLC. Pics in photo album. Have owned the car since 80. It's like sending a kid to college.

Just got a 75 xj6c. No rust. Lt1 350 runs great. Can any one explain why some of these US models have the leaping jag & others don't?

Thanks

I just bought two this week. A 75 US car with a V12, 700R4 transmission. I also bought a 77 Euro car with a small block 305 and 700R4.

I'm still waiting delivery for both cars but i'm excited.

On the leaper question, it was pretty much banned in the UK because of fear that it could cause damage to pedestrians in the event of an accident.

My wife just saw the pics, shes going mad about it! Why are you selling it?
Couldnt you keep it until we're in a position to buy one? ;-)

Hi, I'm a new member; a 77 xj6-c owner. ( will post pictures after I get off probation) I’ve owned the car since 85, and it used to be my daily driver. Now it's hidden away, but about to come back out which is why I joined the form. It’s still in great shape as you will see from photos, including the vinyl top. When using it daily in AZ I had to confront over heating problems. I added a larger ( another core) radiator, and a "flex fan" which pretty much solved the running hot, also will idle with the air on and stay stable.

For performance, I added two, 2barrel, down draft Webers with the appropriate manifold. Made a big difference in driveablity, although correct jetting and tuning was a chore.

More when allowed.

Default XJ6C Series III mods - Neal Kemp

Great looking Series II with series III mods. Did you use a series III trunk lid complete on the series II? Did it bolt right on? I really like the look of the series III rear end. Also the interior looks great. Can you describe the main mods?

XJ6 Coupes are rare, i'd like to keep them as original as possible. Those tail lights, depending on year, came in a few different ways, mine was oval with a small round red reflector next to the tail light assembly...not sure if s3 is direct fit.

OK...that's wrong (no edit feature?). It was $6000, and it had 40,000 miles on it. I had it stripped down to bare metal, removed the vinyl top, repainted in a light yellw that Cadillac used. The complete interior was redone, including the dash. It ran like a dream until I parked it one night to go jogging...and it caught fire when I started it later. I'll try to post some pics or a link. It was a fantastic car, except for the Lucas electrics.

Wow, that yellow looks really great. By the way, Tsingtao, did you get the vinyl roof off at one point in your resto? In American cars that is a common rust place, because it can sit under the vinyl a long time and rust away.

I did use a S. III deck lid and it bolted right on. Other mods were European S. III bumpers and 7-inch headlights. The interior was redone with leather on all surfaces (including door panels, console etc.) and all edges were sewn with french stitching. Additional wood was added for console and doors.
It is still an ongoing project as I am getting ready for a respray. I have had the car for 31 years and kept it original for the time it was used as a daily driver. Knowing that I was not going to sell the car, I decided to modify to the S. III look and have enjoyed it since.
