Default XJC - top door sealing

Hi
I am trying to assemble the top door sealing on my XJC. Do you have any tips how to do it?
I tried sliding it in from the bottom, that didnt get me far (see picture)
I tried "clicking" it in but couldnt get it in.
Any tips welcome...thx
/Marcus

Marcus - I've been through this with my 1975 XJ6C, and I can tell you that it was the hardest and most tedious job I've ever done with it. You have to have a lot of time and patience. I tried using soap, dishwasher soap, etc.

and nothing but what in my pic worked. Don't remember where I bought it online, but Google I'm sure will lead you to it. And the tools I used are also pictured. Good luck!

I found Dawn Powerwash worked well when I replaced the weather-stripping on my 1967 420.

I have used silicone spray on door weatherstripping and it works great. Also, spraying the window tracks puts the glass on steroids. Ian

Hi guys
Thanks for the tips. I managed to get the damn thing in tonight.
I borrowed some cable lubricant spray (or whatever it might be called in english) from the factory.
We use it to pull large power cabling through narrow places on train equipment. Dont know what the base is but I think it will not damage the sealing or paint job.
Cleaned the C-rail before, applied lubricant and then pulled, pushed and cursed the whole evening. Now my hands hurts.
Would have been helpful with 2 extra hand to help pull. Will use an unwilling neighbor for the other door...
Wonder how they did in Jaguar factory..?

Something like wire-pulling lubricant? I used that to install the windshield on my MGB. It seemed to work OK but once it was all over my hands I had a hard time holding on to anything.

Yes, Wire pulling lubricant. Makes everything slippery afterwards...
