1994 Jaguar XJS Security System Removal
I would like to completely remove the security system in my xjs. Has anyone done this? I know its a big job but I have a pretty good understanding of electronics...
At the moment I have door locks that turn on and off by themselves. A trunk lock that does the same. I belive this is related to the security system.
Has anyone simplified the electronics in their xjs? How did you go about it? Did it require modifying your ECU? Are there solder issues with this year as there is with other electronics in the early 90s?

Well, the engine ECU communicates with the security system ECU so that would be quite an undertaking.
In spite of the various things you will hear about the security system, I can tell you from multiple first-hand experiences with the security system ECU dpp1050, it does not go bad. It's always one of the ancillaries that go bad, not the ECU itself.
My recommendation to you if to switch your alarm system of (or put it in valet mode) which will render all the "security" features useless and will allow you to use it as a keyless entry only. It will no longer try to lock the truck or activate the motion sensors, starter kill etc. I know this for a fact because my car was doing what yours is doing now . You probably don't have a valet switch in your car, but it is very easy to add one.
I created this video to help people program their remotes, but it gives you a good idea on how to add a valet switch.
PM me if you need help with anything
