Is that a coupe? I'm in Venice, Florida. What's broken? What's the story?

Thank you. Larry Louton

I have read the post also. Having lost a title before, I know what a hassle it can be. And to make it worse, The local Florida Title offices are closed due to the Virus. Even a simple renewal tag for a auto, boat or house trailer can take two weeks. Some folks sometimes just can't afford the search or don't know how to get it done. I will let you know what happens. Might be two weeks.

Well he said he was out of country, and he said he got the car from someone who owed him debt... that puts up flags for me. Might be nothing but it seems to good a price for that car.

Ask him for the VIN.
Explain to the police and/or DMV that your looking to buy the car and need to know if it's stolen or maybe locate the previous owner.

Yup

"Lost" title ?

A month's pay says that he never had the title to begin with and, as far as legal records go, the car isn't his to sell.

In my neck o'the woods not even a scrapyard will take a car without a clear title 'in hand'.

I wouldn't touch this car with a 10 foot pole but, then again, as I've aged I become extremely adverse to anything that invites frustration, complexity, or worry into my life.

Cheers
DD

To Pete Mohr, Went to my local police department and the man behind the desk searched did a statewide search, Then stated it is not on a list as stolen. Talked with the man running the ad for the coupe and the convertible. The man's father bought the coupe from a auction site for parts on the convertible. Doesn't remember which site he got the coupe from. Thank you Pete. I believe this car is legit. Contacted Motor vehicle department on how to find/make a title for this vehicle. They sent me a form that has to be filled out by the present owner and 85$ dollars and you will have a clear title for vehicle. I have to finish my 84 VDP then I hope to find a coupe as nice as this one. I will be bowing out on this one.

Thank you.

Thanks for the update. Interesting.
I'm surprised no one has jumped on it
I don't know if you could really get it back on the road but there's way more than $1500 in parts there.

dont forget its an old Jaguar , and they have a reputation for a lot of problems!
if they exsist or NOT, even my wife says her friends say its sad you have an old Jaguar!
some times a reputation can follow many years after , sometimes never lose the rep!

one i notice lately is with KIA cars , there customer reveiws say they are great cars, with little problems!
because many years ago they were junk , about to bankrupt, when Hyundai boss bought them for next to nothing!
he said i want to build these cars to be the best in the world(no matter how much it costs)!
he wants customer reviews to match Mercedes benz, today reviews are better than MB, for KIA!
but many people cant forget the troubles from 20 yrs ago, they still think KIAs are junk, so wrong! the 1st cars with a 100K warrenty or 10 yrs! that a lot companies have followed the leader!
