“Idea” after reading and posting mint XJS pretty hard to find
This is meant for all coordinators and general membership
After spending some time on this posted subject matter….(finding the perfect XJS), I should like to kick around the idea of a new “PLATFORM” for discussions.
How about a platform where members are interested in how his peers might rate or your XJS.
You would submit photos and necessary background of your XJS. The quantity of photos would be regulated by the regulators.
The general idea is to get some idea and consensus of “Value” based on the collective wisdom of this forum.
I hate to say this but it probably ends up equating $ worth.
There was a segment on TV……..I think part of collector car auctions called “What’s my car worth”
cars were rated as A, B, or C
A. Hardly driven or show car quality
B. Drivers
C. “Not sure about this category”
Anyway you get the idea
1. All members are critics with their own opinions….(you may need some thick skin)
2. If you are thinking of selling you XJS, you may get some helpful pointers
3. You may get ideas that will improve your “CAT”
4. This site would not be intended on specific repair issues or maintainence etc…..We Have this forum for those things
A lot of individuals put mileage as a primary reason for purchase and willing to pay more money….Don’t get me wrong, it’s certainly a factor
But not the only unless all you want to do is speculate…..I drive and enjoy!!
MY ALL ORIGINAL (Nobody touches my car other than tire replacement in the Seven years I have owned)
XJS is a 1996 Celebration with 111K miles….Purchased with 89K miles
Snowdrift White
Cranberry Convertible Top (Can’t be too many of these around)
Coffee interior
In my first competition in the driven class I beat out a 50K some miles and other much lower mileage vehicles
I’ve been in several National sponsored Jaguar events…Worst was a second place!!
I drive this car!!!!
I would be willing to be a test case….and you can give it your best efforts to be a judge!!
It’s just an idea to expand from this forum and maybe you have similar ideas which might be of interest.
I for one would certainly like to see some of the examples of the XJS.
What do you Think??

I just want to make sure mgmt. does not have an issue or would like to present in a different format/forum.
Trying not to be to pushy…..you don’t know me but at 76yrs. My motor still runs at 110mph.
Would like to see some response from our leaders!! Make sure all is good.
I am not computer literate. Possible content size issue???
thanks

i dont see me making a car list of my past cars!
i'm 87 yrs old , and have owned at least over 100 cars, since 1949!
for some useless knowledge about the used car market, in 1949,me 15 yrs old bought a 1934 Ford roadster V8, for $18. dollars, yes eighteen dollars!
today a good one can bring 150K. how is that for a changing market!
OH and Jaguars , i have been given 3 Yup three for nothing ,NO money just get them off the property!
a 78 XJS cabrio RHD,, a 1982 Sedan, and a running 1975 XJ12C coupe, sold it in Hawiai!

Interesting concept... here is a site that takes pictures of motorbikes forsale from around the world and judges them..... does not sell them... just comments.
And this is a very popular site.
https://raresportbikesforsale.com/
Now.. hear me out.. we take this concept a little further and do the same... if we see a XJS for sale post it here and experts will comment.... give an honest opinion.
Like raresportbikes do.. add the link... and it will not be long and this will be where to go to buy an XJS... ...

To All that are interested in getting this off of dead center
I was hoping to see a lot more input from both potential participants and moderators. I did not want to just go ahead and start off posting something like pictures ……..(the important part)……. take up a lot of computer space. Don’t know if the amount of photos should be limited.
Maybe someone has some ideas on the amount of photos that would not cause any issues with space.
I’m willing to kick this off with a little bit of input from you computer experts.
Proposed format
First ————-I would give some background on both myself and vehicle
Second———I would propose posting 10 to15 pictures
Third————Possible comments with photo
Fourth———-Summary/What’s it worth
Thanks for your input

To All,
Third attempt at putting this thread together and submitting to the forum……I Told you I am not computer savvy!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a full page on my background but lost info twice…why…I don’t know?
I would be happy to address any questions on my background. Self taught, body work, paint and engine rebuild
I am 76 years old, w/open heart surgery in 2012, six (6) by-passes….still kicken!!!!
married 54 years.
Self taught since 1961 when I purchased a 1959 Bug Eye Sprite junior year in high school.
Next car was a 1957 Jaguar 140 drophead coupe………………I WAS HOOKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BRITISH SPORTS CARS AND CORVETTES. (ALWAYS OLD…NOTHING NEW!!). AND A SMATTERING OF VOLVOS, FIATS MOSTLY 124 SPIDERS AND LOTS OF MOTORCYCLES.
1. The drivers seat was completely taken apart stitch by stitch. Bottom of seat and both lower and upper side bolsters replaced with identical leather. Original leaper head back kept in tact and restitched to new panels. Everything on seat works including air bladder!!
2. The convertible top system completely dismantled. Top is original 26 years old. Taken apart each panel and completely restitched……still looks fantastic although is beginning to show age. Horsehair insulation taken apart and new cover fabricated. Liner taken out washed and reinstalled.
3. Hood (bonnet) was showing signs of age with clear coat flaking off. Completely repainted hood with matching color (snowdrift white). Done with spray cans….very close match with mirror finish…….spray cans!! Rest of the XJS is original paint!!
As discussed in previous threads……..Please comment on presentation!!
Remember how this started…Thread of member looking for the perfect XJS with low miles!!!
My point is that it doesn’t have to be just a low mileage vehicle to be worthy of being PERFECT!! Or close to it!! To command a good price. Prior to the XJS I sold a Merc 560SL w/250K miles……It sold for more than I paid for it and driving 11yrs.
1. Comments and questions are appreciated
2. Comment on a price you think it might command…As I mentioned might sell for the right price and buy another and start all over!
3. If you want other photos….I have or will take.
4. This XJS has been in a bunch of National Jaguar sponsored events ….Never less than second!! “Driven Class”
5. Of the 22K miles I put on since purchased, 16K of those have been trips over 2K miles……..mostly UpNorth and Canada! Thinking about driving to California…One of my daughters lives just north of San Francisco in Marin County…3000 miles door to door
Anyway it’s your turn to comment
As Always appreciate being part of this forum
