Default 18" Coventry Whitley's

I'm about to pull the trigger on some 18x8.5" with 235x45 tires. Any cautions before I do this? I know wheel size is a hot (and opinionated) topic

Those Whitney's are very sharp looking wheels. I've never seen a XJS with anything like them.

I know they're more modern and sporty but I'm thinking they'll look good since I have the facelift model.

did you happen to receive and mount the whitleys? would love to see photos.

the 235x45s should fit on yours. i have the same size tires mounted on 18x8s with only a rub on the front at full steering lock.

I ordered them yesterday and will post pics after I get them installed. We need a wheel/tire thread stickied.

Those wheels look great on your facelift model. I am really curious how they would look on a pre-facelift.

I think that's the best-looking wheel upgrade I have seen on a facelift. I would have thought 17" was enough. Your car looks terrific with the Whitleys.

They really are good looking. Sporty and modern but classy and not flashy.

Well done. Good choice.

I have the same wheels on my 91 XJS, with 235/50/17 tires mounted.

Looking good. If I was to replace my 16" lattice with a 17" wheels that is the wheel I would go with.

Well they look awesome on your "series one" too. I think I'd go 17" too, to get a bit more sidewall.

I battled 17" vs 18" but ultimately chose a tire that gave only .25" less sidewall than the 17" yet maintained oem diameter. I also figured I could exchange the 18s for the smaller 17s if I didn't like them. I like the 18s. Look good without being too big. You never want your wheels to hide your xjs. If you have the right wheels, people will never notice them; they'll just see a stunning car.

You achieved that. I can't criticize the look: it's fantastic. It's just that I like a cushy ride. My XJS handle well enough for me on it's original 15s. Tire choice will make me change when the time comes.
