1987 XJ-SC Cooling System
My Jag has been leaking coolant for a few years now. I religiously fill it up every time I use the car and by the next time, it is all on the floor in my garage. I've decided to replace the Radiator this spring. I contacted a garage, and I'm concerned that I don't really know what I am doing, and they don't seem to be offering much help. Can anyone give me a suggestion as to what I should do here?
1. Any suggested Radiators?
2. Do I change out the hoses, thermostats (I hear there are 2?), anything else?
3. Any suggestions for a good Jag mechanic? I live in Georgetown Ontario
4. Does anyone know a Parts site that ships to Canada? According to the one garage I have spoken to, I need to buy the parts and bring them to the garage for them to change.
Any suggestions here??

Change ALL the hoses.
Find a radiator repair place and get them to recore the rad;
Renew both thermostats;
Loads of places hip XJS parts globally, and very good US based places too ( eg D manners, SNG Barratt, Coventry West, just google XJS parts;
All these jobs are quite easily done DIY, or if you want to get your garage to do it, we can post instructions!

As Greg said.
I use XK Unlimited, San Louis Obispo USA, fom time to time, and OZ is a lot further away than Canada.
Step by step can be done it you need it. The task is NOT rocket science. I have a cooling system "upgrade" Word Doco if you PM me your email I will send it.
I will do a radiator and odds and ends Doco for you and others IF you want, and since it wont be too large I can attach it here, just let me know.

My XJ-S the original owner decided not to replace the hoses and when one cracked the engine overheated so bad it melted the distributer cap, burned off the powdercoat on almost everything in the engine bay and the engine has zero compression on 10 of 12 cylinder. It also melted most of the shrouding off the wires on top of the engine. I am now going through the process of swapping in a 6.0 v12. Check out my Flickr page.
The cooling system and wire system are the two most important things to maintain on the V12.
Buy one of the kits of all the hoses and blow out any crud in the system. Also ensure that there is proper airflow to the radiator. The oil cooler in front of the radiator gets gunk which cliffs the airflow.
