1988 XJS US bumpers vs Euro bumpers??
Do euro cars have front and back bumpers that stick out 6"-7" ( looks like a package shelf), like the American market cars do?
I know the European '70s-''80s 3x8 Ferraris much more petite bumpers than the North American bound cars did with their 5 MPH shock absorber mounted bumpers. A lot of people converted to Euro bumpers (or collapsed and pinned the shock absorber mounts) on American cars because the smaller bumpers just look better.
I think the car would look a lot better with the bumpers tucked in about 3" from stock, a quick peak underneath looks like it would be fairly simple to do.

I've done this mod, but using a different method than drilling the holes. With the drilling the holes method, the change is permanent and fine tuning how far the rubber projects is literally hit or miss. The method I used allows returning it to stock or fine tuning the projection.

There is a link to original post explaining the modification, and there are some "after" photos of mine. Very happy with the results.
