1989 5.3 High Idle- Found Culprit! Just need some help getting the part number-
Had an idle that kept creeping up so i did some digging under the bonnet and sure enough found a split hose on the rear of the drivers side intake- A little elbow that literally fell apart when i took it off- I cannot find the part anywhere on SNG Barrett's site in their diagrams- Anyone have this part number handy?
And while i am in there I want to replace the air balance hoses as well- You guys know that part#? I tried some heater hose but it just collapses...
You know the little rubber balance hoses by any chance? Might as well grab those bits as well- Yeap i tried to replace with heater hose... #fail... I think i see them on the diagram as well- I really appreciate it!
Seems there are 2 parts on that- 1 for "air injection" and 1 for "less air injection"
What would determine the difference? I dont have a clue...
Since you're in Florida it's a fair guess that you have a "USA Market" car.....which will have the air injection.
As for the balance tube hoses, as mentioned you can used HD coolant hose from your local auto parts store. You'll need hose with an I.D. of 1.0". You want something that's pretty thick-walled and robust.
The Jaguar part numbers are C41373 (old number) and EBC44002 (new number). They're often listed in catalogs as 'coolant bypass hose'. No worries; the same hose was used for both the coolant bypass pipe and the vacuum balance pipe
