I have recently bought a 1990 Jaguar XJS 3.6. When I turn the key it turns over but wont start however if I get someone to disconnect the Inertia fuel pump switch while I am turning it over and then switch it on again (While the car is still turning over) the car will then start. Any ideas on what the problem could be??
Ah you’re right. It could be a late 89 model. It’s G reg. definitely a 3.6 though.
I will look for a new switch to see if that solves the problem and also have a look at the wiring!
thanks for your help
Finally found the fault! Turned out to be the fuel pressure regulator. The diaphragm had split. Ordered a new one and fitted it, it started straight away!
Very Nice! Mine is an auto. And yes, I have another issue with it il probably have to make a new thread although I’ve already read through some similar ones. Sometimes when I brake the car dives to the left, I might make a proper thread and go into more detail about it! Nice one for the reply 👍🏻
Regarding brakes occasionally pulling to the left have a look at the recent thread about brake pump running continuously. PTS has replied with a comment about ABS pulling to one side which might be relevant.
