While routing the replacement wire harness across the front of the firewall, there were two sheathed wire bundles (branches) that were just long enough to connect to the Right Terminal Pos on the firewallt, however, one of the branches is actually ground wires. I removed both branches, cut the sheath so that I could inspect the wires, at which point I realized that I had connected the branch of ground wires to the positive terminal post. Once removed the mysterious power source went away. I looked around for a ground stud that the branch of ground wires should have connected to, but did not find one. For now I have connected the ground wires to the rear stud of the Intake Manifold branch for cylinder 6A.
Any ideas where it should be connected?
I am now having an intermittent problem where the fuel pump does not run with the ignition on that seems to be at the main connector where it plugs into the ECU.
So, I have not been able to start the car yet. More to come.
Bundle of ground wires that were connected to Right Terminal Post in error. Bundle is part of the ECU electrical harness. I had to cut open the glass fiber sheath to see the wires to see what color they were.
Another bundle that supples power to the ECU harness by connecting to the Right Terminal Stud on the firewall.
The rear stud for the 6A Intake Manifold Branch was closest place I could find to connect the ground wire bundle after removing it from the Right Terminal stud on the firewall.
