Just a thought: The radio probably has two 12v feeds, one via the switch; and one of which is always live and protects the code and memory etc, whether the radio is on or not. Your radio may for some reason not be getting this permanent 12v feed, so is losing the code when the radio is switched off.

Although I'm not an expert on Car Audio I have fitted a Couple of Stereos in my XJS's and they all appear to run off Two Fuses one of which is a Line fuse and the other one is right at the back of the Cage, both of which you should be able to see in the Photos, so maybe one of those fuses could have blown
Have a look at Page: 20 of this Thread and you will see them
I'd never ever fitted a Car Stereo before and so this was my first attempt and although the Wiring looks Scary and a bit like a plate of Spaghetti gone mad, it is a whole lot easier to do than you would think
My Step by Step Guide to Removing the Original Jaguar Radio and Replacing it with an 'After Market' Stereo including Step by Step Photos
