1992 XJS V12 Odometer stopped working

From your description, it sounds like the internal gear is at fault. They are plastic and can crack with age.
Not sure where you are located, but if you have a speedometer shop nearby they can either fix it or provide the proper plastic gear. If you don't have one locally, you can contact Palo Alto Speedometer and they should be able to help.

What is this electrical component and is it possible that it has failed? Is there a way to test it?
