Not the same as an owners manual, no.

Go here.....

Jaguar Heritage. The Jaguar Heritage Trust

...and under "technical publications" order the JHM1176 disc. It has everything you need at a super bargain price

Paper manuals are available on Ebay or from the above mentioned vendors. Much more expensive but paper manuals have advantages in some cases.

Actually some of the above vendors may have the Jaguar repair discs so you won't have to wait for shipping from England.

The XJS isn't the best car for a beginner to learn DIY repairs but it's doable. Do you have a pal with some experience who can assist and watch over your shoulder? People here will be glad to assist but it really isn't practical to go right down to the bare fundamentals of auto repair.

The service manuals will give instruction on removing and replacing parts (among many other things) and the parts diagrams are very helpful in showing how how things actually fit together.....a picture is worth a thousand words, as they say.

Get the manuals and look up what needs to be done and post back for any help and clarification that you might need. It's actually fun going the the manuals. Well, I think it's fun, at least. You can pick up quite a bit from browsing thru them.

At this point it would probably be better to start separate threads for your various questions as they come up.

Cheers
DD
