1995 and 1996 Coupes?

This is before I found a set of factory wheels.
I think the 95 & 96 coupes are keepers. There seems to be less problems and they are the last of the breed. I too would rather have a coupe for the same reasons. I have had mine for 5 years now with no major repair problems and I have it serviced at the Jag dealership.

Any 4.0 liter six cylinder coupe in the U.S. seems to sell rather quickly. Plus every seller seems to know that they can get a higher price. You can find them either by searching for 'Jaguar XJS 4.0 site:craigslist.org' on Google or by using SearchTempest.
I tried to find one for a while. But by the time I considered the higher price and shipping costs, I went with a local V12 XJS for half the money.
The clean look of the late six cylinder is intriguing though. Beautiful aluminum cover and no spaghetti mess.

The wheels were on the car when I bought it 5 years ago, they were Borbet wheels 16" X 7.5". The lug wrench would not fit the non stock lug bolts on the Borbet wheels so had to carry a breaker bar and deep socket in case I needed to change a tire. The spare was a stock wheels and the lug bolts did not fit the correct way. The factory wheels are only 7.0" wide. I had to buy 20 of the correct lug bolts when I got all the wheels purchased and refinished before I could install the stock wheels with new tires. I sold the Borbet wheels to someone restoring an earlier XJS with the factory 15" wheels. I want any change I do to look stock, just my hang up.

If only that were true! A few years ago PTJS1 posted a horrifying set of photos of his facelift that had completely disappeared all round the windscreen bottom corners and scuttle. A small selection attached. They may be a bit better than the pre facelifts underneath and round the sills, perhaps.

People say the 88 and 89s were the worst years but I have seen some really weird rust holes on very late facelifts. Like above the headlight in the wing or next to the rear lights in the side. Below the fuel filler door. Heck, one even had rust about 20 cm below the side mirror. No idea how that is possible!
