1995 2+2 Rear Spoiler
Hi All,
My 1995 XJS (4.0L) is just about finished at the paint shop. I decided to get her repainted instead of selling her off. Anyway, when I took the spoiler off the boot lit (my spoiler has the 3rd brake light built in), it was held on with four bolts and lots of very sticky, grey material. The stuff was almost like caulk, except very sticky so it was meant to hold that spoiler very tight to the lid so it would wobble loose over time. What is that grey stuff and where can I get some for reassembly?
Thank you,
Ray

Thanks for the quick response. I ordered the gaskets from JaguarClassicParts and they are the rubber type you described. However, they are very different from what was on the car. One the car was an extremely tacky (even 18 years later) material. It still had the consistency of plummer's puddy (non-harden) and looked like it was one big sheet of material that was trimmed to fit. It was a light grey color and not deteriorated rubber. I am wondering if it was dealer installed method. I've reached out to JCP to see if they know more. Thanks for your post!
