My 1996 XJS 4.0 Coupe UK spec has faild its MOT on emissions. I can't find the EGR valve. I have seen photos on the internet of an EGR just behind the throttle body but it's not there on my car and I can't see one any where else. Can anyone help me locate the EGR valve ? if it has one .

Thank you for the reply much appreciated.
It failed on
Exhaust Hydrocarbon content after 2nd fast idle exceeds default limit 4.1.2(2)
Exhaust Lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits 8.2.1.2(b)
Exhaust carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle exceeds default limit 8.2.1.2(b)
I have already ordered a new Lambder sensor and hope to test this against the two sensors on the car to see if it's one or both that are faulty.
Also will change the air filter, and clean the intake system.
I will post the outcome once its passed.

Tig,
IMLE, the lambda sensors on an AJ16 tend to flatline when they fail. So a a quick check with any OBDII package on your phone should enable you to see if both sensors are fluctuating appropriately in voltage.
As you probably know the AJ16 uses titanium sensors which can be expensive. I've always found Gendan Automotive Products :: Professional and DIY car diagnostic tools :: EOBD, OBD II, CAN and VAG Code Readers and Scan Tools very good on price, and when I've bought an XJS one, it has been an OEM NTK one in the box.
Good luck
