Hi Paul
i am still working on it. I bought a working speedometer interface And swapped it out with no luck .... I did open speedometer for dash but everything looked ok .... I was afraid to pull ribbon connections .... not much room. So as soon as I get some time I will start looking at connections

Nearly all late XJS speedo problems seem to come down to the quality of connections, often in the cluster. I'm a great believer in not changing any parts until I've actually worked out what is the problem. Tilt the cluster down, get out a multimeter and just start checking the voltage at the various connection pots from the diff sensor to the interface to the instrument cluster plug to the speedo head. You'll find the problem quite quickly. And if the trip computer and cruise control are functioning, then just go straight to the cluster as that is where the problem lies.
Good luck
Paul

Checking speedo voltage will not do you any good as there will be no voltage unless the rear wheels are turning, and then it will be a 5 volt peak-peak AC squarewave signal.
Pull the connectors from the dash and clean the printed circuit and the connector with a pencil eraser. While you are there check the screws that hold the speedo in are tight these also connect the speedo to the circuit.
